Well, another Christmas has come and gone. As you can see by the date of the last post, I’ve been enjoying some technology-free time and just enjoying my family and the holiday. It always makes me a little sad when the Christmas season comes to an end. It always seems to go so FAST! We had a really nice one this year – I hope you did too! We spent time with family, enjoyed a lot of good food (way too much food by the looks of the scale! EEK!), exchanged gifts, watched fun Christmas movies, and all of that fun stuff that takes place this time of year. I’m truly thankful for all that God has blessed me with this year.
Now that we’re on the brink of a new year it’s time to look ahead and start making some plans and goals for the next year. I’m honestly not much of a “New Year’s resolutions” kind of girl but I thought it might be a good idea to make a few goals and also have a little fun voicing a few dreams for the year! So, here goes…
Goals (in no particular order)
- Lose weight – isn’t this always on the list??
It seems that’s the most popular thing to make a goal about. haha! We got a jump start on this around Thanksgiving though when we joined a gym that’s close by. I’ve been working out about four times a week most weeks and I’m hoping to increase the intensity of my workouts and really get myself in better shape. - Put a little more time into my Scentsy business. I started with Scentsy in September and have really enjoyed it. I haven’t had a whole lot of time to put into it but I’m hoping to get a little better about that this year.
- Spend a little less time with technology (computer, TV, phone, etc.) and spend a little more time on relationships, outdoor activities, hobbies, etc. It’s so easy to get sucked into hours and hours every week watching TV or playing on the computer. I really want to limit my time with both and do things that are more productive.
- Improve my photography skills by taking some classes, getting out and shooting more, and reading helpful material. One of my Christmas gifts was a gift card to a photography store here in town so that I can take a class they offer! Woohoo!! (Thanks, babe!)
- Improve my health (and my family’s) by eating out less and cooking at home more. It’s easy to just pick something up when we’re running around, tired, or busy but I need to do a better job of planning my meals for each day and sticking to that plan.
- Continue with our debt snowball and get a LOT of debt paid off this year!!
- Continue spending time in God’s word each day but go a little deeper and create more of a study rather than just a reading.
Dreams
- I’d really like to go on a cruise again and be able to take our kids with us. We went for our anniversary in 2010 and it was amazing! I’ve wanted to take my kids on one ever since.
- My husband and I would love to take the kids and go on a road trip going out west – visiting Arizona again and stopping at the Grand Canyon.
- Give both bathrooms an overhaul with new floors and countertops. The funny thing is this is actually not an unrealistic dream because our bathrooms are so tiny! lol! It wouldn’t take much to do it!
- I would love to give our backyard a makeover too so that it’s a place that we can go and hang out – spending time together and enjoying time outdoors.
- I would LOVE to be able to get a couple of new lenses for my camera. I know I want a macro lens and I’m beginning to think I need to get another lens just to take regular photos of people and events – I’m just using the kit lens and it doesn’t seem to be giving me photos that are that great lately. I wonder if it could have something to do with the fact I dropped my camera last summer? ugh.
This is by no means an exhaustive list of all my goals and dreams but I think it’s a good start! How about you? Do you have a list that you’ve started? Are you a resolution kind of person? Please share!
